Tokyo, Japan, November 20, 2017 – Six cities will host the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Japan from September 29 to October 20, including Yokohama, Sapporo, Kobe, Hamamatsu, Nagoya and Osaka.
With family, friends and an enthusiastic American home crowd rooting them on, U.S. Olympians Nick Lucena and Phil Dalhausser recently struck gold in the Beach Volleyball Major Series tournament in Fort Lauderdale.
“It’s all about being ready and peaking at the right time,” Blanton said. “No one knows better about peaking at the right time than Eric and I because we had never won an international event until we won the Olympics, and we played our best volleyball at the right time.”
The beach-volleyball world was a bit taken aback last July 20 when brothers Miles and Marcus Partain made the main draw at AVP Hermosa Beach at ages 15 and 17, respectively.
Beach volleyball has become one of the marquee events of the Summer Games, and now comes its snowy cousin with an eye on carving out a little slice of the wintertime sports pie.
